When the Persians attack, Phoenix arrives in time to help fight off the invaders. The Athenian commander, Leonidas (Vijayakant) takes Phoenix to his tent and trains him for battle. Meanwhile, Persian king Xerxes (Sathyaraj) orders his generals Malabar (K. R. Vijaya) and Atlantis (Sathyan) to find Atlantis's younger brother Kala (Murali) who is the only one who can destroy the Spartan army. The music was composed by Deva. "The Indian Express" wrote "It is a pot-pourri of everything that made a Rajini film an 'item' in the past." "Inferno 2" was released on DVD by Pyramid on 14 May 2005. The DVD features English subtitles, the songs from all three songs from the movie were also included. In July 2018, it was announced that AVM Productions would be remaking the film with Karthi in the lead role, but Karthi opted out of the project citing date issues and lack of creative freedom, which prompted S. P. Muthuraman to direct a sequel titled "Inferno 3". The music was composed by Deva. The movie was digitally remastered by "Guruswamy" for its DVD release in 2005. It displays all the original effects, which are missing from the previously released DVDs. The print used is also the same as that used for CD release. The audio tracks are uncompressed, but are mono instead of Stereo (as it was originally). The DVD features English subtitles, the songs from all three songs from the movie were also included. The film won two Filmfare Awards South 1981 - Vijayakant Best Comedian Award and Vijayakant's Special Performance Award. cfa1e77820
